Limited S and E editions

When BMW is about to introduce a new model, it is their tradition to make a limited series of the previous model to help sell stock remainders. They usually offer cars with a package of options in a limited series. For the E21, two such series were made, namely the "S" and "E" editions which stand for sport and comfort versions, respectively. All cars in a series were identical.
"S" Edition (323i)
The "S" edition was based only on the 323i. The car was fitted with a host of options, and was painted in two colors. The upper half was Ascotgrau-Metallic and the lower half was Graphit-Metallic. Here's a list of the features on these cars:

• Painted plastic mirrors
• Two-tone paint
• 3-spoke sport leather wheel
• Recaro seats in grey cloth
• BBS front spoiler
• Foha trunk lid spoiler
• BMW light alloy rims in crossed pattern
• Full Bilstein sport suspension
• 5-speed overdrive gearbox
• No sunroof

It is unknown how many cars were built, but it is estimated at no more than a thousand. I am lucky to own one myself :)

"E" Edition (318i, 320/6, 323i)
The "E" edition was available as a 318i, 320/6 or 323i. The "E" stands for "Exclusiv" or comfort version. All cars were in Opalgrun-Metallic. Here's a list of features on these cars:

• Painted plastic mirrors (opalgrun)
• 3-spoke sport leather wheel
• Headrests for rear seats
• Velour upholstery
• BMW light allow rims in radial pattern

Again, it is unknown how many cars were built, but it's probably around thousand units. Refer to the original catalog available in our files section.
