Ok Guys,
I am having the usual run around at the body shop about my car. This should not be anything new by now.

So My interior is out, but my windshield and rear glass is in.. AGGHHH!!! This guy and I where yelling at each other today.

My question is this: Can I put the headliner in with the glass in??

thanks
Joe

Jamie does both the front and rear glass have to come out for the headliner to fit?
How about the glass on the side?

Headliner glues to the same body flange that holds the glass in place, so it's going to be virtually impossible to do with the glass in.

Side comment on installing headliners - VW used some neat little clips to lock the headliner fabric in place on the window flange. They're very thin, and don't interfer with the window rubber at all - I usually try to harvest a few whenever I'm at Pick & Pull, just to have 'em on hand.

The headliner was pulled out around the top of the 320's back window when I got it - while the window was out for a new seal, I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive & several VW clips to reinstall the headliner, and it's stayed put ever since......

So how hard is it to pull out the front and rear glass?

nah, just get a kick out of the pic.

Honestly, "the easy way" is to bring the car out into the sun on a hot summer day. Remove the lockstrips on both front and rear windshields.

Let it heat up for a good 2 to 3 hours. After the time has elapsed use a large towel folded in quarters and push on the glass with your hand from the inside. The towel will help spread the force over a wider area so that you do not break the glass and it will help you not burn your hand at the same time. This is only if you are going to reuse your seals.

If you are going to replace the seals the with a single edge razor blade cut the outside lip of the seal all the way around and the glass with slide right out.

Ray, I get a kick out of the picture as well.
Boy that was so funny!

And thanks for the help.
I will try to get some new seals
when I get the headliner in.
Take a look at the sticker>

Joe,

The dash is easier to R&R with the windshield out. Cut the seals, new ones are relatively cheap. Just make sure they are available before cutting.

I got to ask; why do you keep working with this boob?

Bruce. I dont have a place to put it.
My patience has reached the end. I will take care of this and get it the freak out of there.

Yeah I will cut the seals. I think I need to do this on the back as well.

You just complicated his problem as the Baur can have up to three headliners! Joe's resto shop can't deal with one.

How hard can this be? We are not talking about rocket science - just putting in a simple headliner.

It was a joke man.....

But it makes me wonder..........does your soft top and targa top have an interior liner? I just have the cheap plastic stuff covering the inside of the Baur roll bar. I could cut and sow that thing.
