I posted this on bimmerforums, but not everyone gets all around.
I had a Kamei front spoiler, but really thought it made the front end look too heavy. Esp with the US bumper still on there. So, I tried to replicate a VW look. The early Rabbits & Jettas (even the Sciroccos) had small spoilers that were simple, single plane lips. They got nicknamed duckbills for obvious reasons.
I wanted something a bit deeper and farther forward, but not too much, as I already drag and scrap on stuff around here.
So, I grabbed an extra front bumper trim piece(s) from a parts 320i and lo and behold, it goes right on with a few screws. Doesn't look half bad IMO, and the price was right.
Its a little wavy, but I should be able to straighten it out a bit.

Nice Work! Very cool, perfectly retro. I'd like to do something similar - or come across an Alpina air dam. I like the small dia high beams too. Cheers, BW |

I like the look. I need to see if it works on the 2nd gen e21. I would paint the area between your new spoiler and the front edge of the wheel well opening black to hide the original apron lip.

Yeah, I plan on making it a bit less conspicuous with some black paint. I like the Alpina front spoilers, but this was almost free, and if I hurt it, I can get another one for the same price. |
