I thought the rack is generally the same, just that power has a hydraulic pump assist? |

I thought for all e21's it was 3.5 turns lock-to-lock. the powersteering should be the same. i have seen a kit on ebay that made it 2.5 turns lock-to-lock, it was about $AU250 |

The Haynes Manual states that the steering ratio has been reduced from around 21 to 20.5:1 or so however Jerremy Waltons books states that the powered rack has a ratio of 19:1. I have trouble believing it's much if any different to the stock manual steering, it feels similar to the ludicrously slow 4 turns lock to lock. The E30 M3 is definately 19:1 and if our E21 DID have that ratio it should feel similar in feel if not slightly better, with it's more positive offset steering strut layout (E21 across the board have a triffle more feel than E30s thanks to this, all other things being equal).
I've driven an E30 M3 and the steering has a bit more feel to it, although this could be to do with other factors |

I get 4 turns lock to lock with power steering and I really don't like it. It looks like its time to go look for a different rack!! |

Let me know if you can find someone who does a power E21 quick rack. I'm about ready to an entire E30 front subframe with a quicker rack off of a modern Bimmer because I'm so racked off |

This should sort it out I would think.
No affiliation though |

Hey jason323i is that true? I've been looking for a quicker power rack and can only find the manual one. I'm even thinking of losing the power steering just for the sake of simplicity... but people keep telling me to keep it for the sake of originality and rarity... |
