I've an early and late model hood. While they appear to be identical I notice that the hinge assy. is somewhat different between the two. The earlier hood has a pronounced "crook" in the crossmember and the later one does not. Were the hinge/latch assy's changed for the updated front end?

I got a hood from a '79 to replace the original, which is missing the drivers side corner. I assumed that it had rusted away and the PO had simply cleaned it up, put some metal in place and bondo'd it. The idea being it was cheaper to replace the hood than have the old one properly fixed. Oddly enough the "new" hood has the same issue and there is no sign of rust or any type of damage. It appears it was this way from new????? A search through the archives and viewing of alomost every photo on this site hasn't shown me much.

Can someone shed some light on this?

TRANSLATION: The corner is cut out because your radio antennae comes up through that corner.

That was my English to english subtitle.

My hood does not line up on the passenger side.
I can post a picture...any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

PS:My 323i is a 79. Is there any difference in the years of the hoods??
