a Porsche upgrade seems to have a little more cache' than a volvo upgrade... Probably cost a little more cash ay?

Seriously... nice looking work. Do update us on mounted photos and how they work.

This is my low cost big brake Upgrade

The caliper fit Plug&Play no adapters need

Front: 282x25 (e24) and Opel Omega A caliper
Back: 272x19 (e24) from 633Cs

@Zolika_e21 do you need adapter to mount the porsche caliper?

@Tobias
Yes I need adapeter to mount the caliper.
It will be ready in two weeks.

What hubs are you using in the back?

I used custom made hubs for the back, buts i heard that the back hubs from the 323i e36 compact fit but I dont test it...

Do you have pictures of the mounting of the calipers?

What main brake cylinder do you use?

thanks man.. First I wanted to use the Porsche Caliper aswell (996), but at the moment its to expensive for me (student..) but maybe I will upgrade the front later...

I use the e23 master brake zylinder (22,2mm) it seems to be big enough so Im quit satisfied

@Zolika are you using the original 330i gearbox? If that is the gearbox you use, what diff do you take, because the 3.45 would be a bit to short?

Tobias

Well I am using e21 Overdrive gearbox with 3.45 diff. I know it will not too long ratio but enough to 250 km/h

2 questions about this:

-I thought this gearbox wouldnt fit the m54 engine?

-Are you shure that this smal gearbox can handelt that much of torque?

Post nr. 49

The original e21 5speed gearbox fit for M54.
Only I have to exchange flywheel from M54 to M20.

I am pretty sure it will handle that power. We totaly rebuild the gearbox.

I have also a E12 with M5 Engine makes almost 400Hp with the original 5 speed gearbox. It is working without any problem almost 4 years ago

Post nr. 8

that are good news, I really dont know that it fit... but about the power all people I aks told me that the 245 Getrag from the e21 323i cant handle more than 250Nm (so do you use stonger internals maybe from the 260 Getrag?)

Posted Saturday, Mar 3rd 11:39pm [Edit] [Quote] [IMS] [View car]

Post nr. 50

No it is the original Getrag 245. I think it will work, but we will see after the first run in the summer.

We will use a programable engine management system, so now we thinkig to put a turbocharger on the engine. We already bulding this car 1.5 years ago, so couple of months more doesnt make difference.

sounds really interesting, cant wait to see more of this car...

but the m54 is not god for turbocharging, better use a m50 iron block ... or softturbo with a very low boost pressure

but with turbo you would defently need a stronger gearbox and maybe a stronger Differential, depending on the boost

Post nr. 51

Well I didnt agree with you.
I think anykind of engine can be turbocharged, maybe it makes more preparation.
That is really true we have to make more progress on the gearbox and differential

of course you can turbocharge every engine even the m3 engine with a compression radio of than 11:1 is turbochargeable. But the questions is how much boost pressure and how reliable the engie became. Belive it or not every professional tuner uses the m50 iron block for turbocharging the m52/m54 aluminium block is not the best choice for that...

at the Da-Motorsport Kit you can read something i dont like for example the take the original compression ration bost it with 0,5bar (which is the maximum you can go with the m54 block and that cr) and they recommend only 96 Octane petrol. The increases the knocking risk, because bmw recommend 98 Octane for the original engine...
That can have 2 consequences:
1 the engine isent reliable long term
2 it wastes a plenty of petrol

And than i read some silly things when the compare supercharger with turbocharger for explame that te turbocharger spools faster

Belive me if you are willing to go for turbo you will have more fun by using the iron block
