Visiting from E32 & E24 forums. Have decent 323i which I bought with thrown timing belt. Rather than repair the M20 thought I might use one of the M30s that I have laying around. Know there used to be conversion engine mounts but can't source them. Also BMWSA built the E21 330i so there should be some data around. Need to do something with this car, have had it for over four years. Would appreciate first hand input from you guys. Like your site, well laid out. |

Hello try Fritz's Bits, heres the website:

Rich does a conversion kit for putting an M30 in the E21, and I am sure he would post abroad. |

Been there done that. Lots of fun but traction and balanced handling is a challenge. Mount the engine as low and back (sound like a broken record don't I?)as possible. E34 M30 is the best one to use. |

Thanks for the input. What I have is a complete setup from a 79 528i, plus an extra 3.0 short block. Figure I will probably have to use the 4spd to match the M30 and then cut a driveshaft. From what I've heard the final drive will handle the load. Exhaust could be a bear, not much room under there. Would it be more fun than putting a SB Chevy in my E32 parts car? Don't know. |
