Fellas, I am putting the head back on with torque head bolts and my old european 323i Haynes manual says the following (I guess for hex head bolts):
stage 1 - 26 ftlbs; wait 20 min
stage 2 - 44 ftlbs; run engine to op temp
stage 3 - 20 to 30 degrees
My newer Haynes manual for 6 cyl 3 series with torque head bolts says:
stage 1 - 22 ftlbs; no waiting
stage 2 - 90 degrees; no waiting
stage 3 - 90 degrees; no waiting
I guess I should go with the newer torque procedure?

do you have torx head bolts?
If you do it's 22 foot pounds, 90 deg, 90 deg.

Thanks...I'll go with the second one. Just wanted to make sure that was the common procedure for the torque head bolts...... |
