Were rockers always painted body color or was it a dealer option to paint them black? I've seen both. |

In the UK i've only ever seen origional cars with black sills/rockers.
Most of the cars with body coloured sills have been re-sprayed |

I painted mine the same color as the car,
but the zender skirts hide it.

The black was not just paint. It was an under-carriage treatment, similar to truck bed liner. It is stone chip resistant.

I used some 3M rocker panel spray. It can be had at most any auto parts store. |
