So I have a warped Manifold, what are my replacement options? should I go stock(expensive and or hard to find) or what else can I do? If i get the manifold off a 325i m20, will it fit 100%?
thanks!

Any machine shop worth half a nickel can resurface the mounting flange for not too much money. A friend of mine made up a turbo manifold and the face was warped after he was done. Had it resurfaced for about $20, I think. |

When I rebuilt my motor, I had the exhaust manifolds faced at the machinist to make sure I got a 100% seal... was cheap and has never even looked like leaking.
Got it done at the same place as the head.

imaradiostar, its warped enough on the connector with the downtube to have a small exaust leak on one side.
(sorry if i cant be more descriptive!)
how could i fix this with a file?

I would say it is more likely to be a distorted downpipe rather than the face on the manifold.
Are you using asembley paste with the gasket or just the gasket on its own? |

Assembley paste is a must if you want a true seal.
It's sold in the UK under trade names such as GUM GUM or FIRE PASTE, i wouldnt know what it's called OTP.
When you tighten the nuts on the downpipe/manifold joint you should just nip them all up first then tighten them all 1/2 a turn at a time NOT fully tighten one then then second then the third, you will pull the flange over to one side doing this.
