Question about my trunk, to open it, i have to be pushing on the button, in and out many times, and pulling up at the same time hauling on my spoiler, is there any way i can make it pop open just by pressing the button?

Isn't the spring tension adjustable? The springs are the two bars under the parcel shelf.

Pull spring towards you and locate in slot nearest the back of the car to tighten them up.

Sunbeam has got it. Be *AWARE* that they are springs and do contain kinetic energy.

Yeah....you cant keep too many dead bodies in there. It messes up the trunk lid mechanisms.

What spoiler do you have? The spoiler weight def affects the "pop" of the lid.

Nothing Honda-ish on the trunk is there?

I think he has a latch problem, not a spring problem.

Since i got the car, ive lubed the latch like crazy in every place i could find.

If i push the lid down, it does not bounce up for the most part. It will stay up, but it doesnt really have much pull to get it up there until it is almost at 2 o clock(if looking at car from the left side perspective)

its really a pain!

No spoiler other than the rubber glue on that came with the car.

Any more suggestions would be much apreciated. Thanks for the help again!

would putting the springs into the front clips make a difference?

That would reduce the tension and exacerbate the problem.

I wouldn't expect too much from these springs, i have the foha rubber spoiler fitted and the boot lid does not open itself.
When you push the button it pops up off the latch, you then have to open it by hand over half way before the springs break gravity and open it all the way.
I think these springs are assisters rather than openers.

Its such a pain now though, i have to use 2 hands to open my trunk, a big problem when trying to carry things into the trunk.

Any kind of after market installments?

thanks

I didn't realize that you wanted the trunk lid to actually open. It doesn't. The springs are there to pop the lid off the latch when the catch is released.

A gas cylinder from a hatchback could, most likely, be adapted. But why modify a car that is getting rarer every day?

right now though, the springs arnt strong enough to pull the trunk off the latch . Is there a part number for the springs?

sorry if this is a stupid question, but before i buy these springs, is it even possible that springs just go bad over time?

It is possible but the trunk springs would probably be the last item I would upgrade on my car.

i had the same problem with mine, try adjusting the latch, it worked for me. the trunk lid doesn't actually pop up but it releases the latch so i can push button then lift the trunk from any point along the trailing edge.

That is the problem as he wants the trunk to open/lift like a modern car.
