I was just wondering what offset our car's are equipped with??? Is it like a civic?? I know we can put civic wheels on our car's (god forbid) but I never have.....I am just looking for offset, Maybe a photo of your wheels and offset's...I REALLY LOVE LOVE LOVE LIP!!!! If I can get 2-2.5in at front and 2.5-4in of lip at the back I would be the happiest person alive!!!!! Some call it Dish but the appropriate name is lip, the dish is the disk that the stud holes are in....So how much lip and what offset do YOU have?? :p

Our factory wheels have an 18mm offset, while most 15's run a 12-13mm offset.
Here are my Carroll Shelby 13x6's with VERY little offset (between 0 and 6mm) and about a 2" lip:

Thanks dude, I want to run somthing pretty extreme for show purpose, but I also want to beable to put the stocky's back on there for when the fun times arise. I'm thinking maybe somthing like 17x8 maybe 8.5 in rear if they'll fit, and probably 17x7-7.5 up the front. And I'm going to go for a MINIMAL offset like anywhere from -5 to +5, that way I will get, if not then very close or exceed to my desired lip....I may fit smaller rim's, say 17x7.5-8 in rear and 17x6.5-7 up front, it really depends on clearance, what the widest wheels anyone has ever fit on an E21??? I mean WITHOUT wide-body & flare style modifacations?? I WILL roll my fender's/gaurds to get a little more clearance, I MAY pump them a little bit say around 1-2inches Still very uncertain until I know how big we can go with a STOCK body!?!!?!

i have 17x8 up front with et26 and 17x9 back with et 20 but with the control arm lip shaved just where the wheel sits, actually i' sure you cand run a 9 inch wheel in the rear with et10-15 with no mods but depenting of the lowering and tyre size you'l rub the fender; another problem i have with 9 inch wide wheel in the rear at bump the rim hits the shock absorber but i'm sure i can get away with -10 ofset. now in the front at our cars the limiting factor is the steering ball joint who hits the wheels if the offset is to high, that's with 13, 14, 15 and 16" wheels but with 17" the ball joint fits in the wheel other problem you can have with 17" and high offset in the front is the tyre rubbing the spring perch ... hope this helps

That post made me very happy, So I will beable to run 17x9 in the rear with a 10 - 20 positive offset?? And I'll put 17x8 in the front with a higher offset like 15-25 positive, I want a mad lip job in the rear, front no soo much but still there. This is great news, can anyone back Gabi_323i up?? Not that I don't beleive you I just want a few different opinions.....Thankyou for you help.

why would you purposely run that large a wheel on an e21?

15" all the way!

I dunno, I just like the look of large wheels on small car's. The width is purly for traction purpose's....I have BBS 13x6 with 205/60/13 on the rear and they just fry and don't grip up....More width will solve this problem, Also with larger wheels you get better handeling....In a while (6 months-1 year) I want to wide body her, Then I'll probably run some crazy wheel fitment's......e.i 17-18x9.5-10in in the rear.....Probably 8in in the front....With extreme offset most probably somthing like -10 to 0mm that's it.....Just as I said before I LOVE my lip.

More width will definately help but there has to be a certain amount of balance- and there are very few decent tires anymore in a 205/60/13. You can get much better tires in 15" to 16" inch sizes. Not a lot of practical experience here but I still think an E21 with 15 or 16 inch wheels and decent tires will outhandle a 13" wheel with mediocre tire or 17" wheel with a tiny little sidewall.

You could stuff BF Goodrich 225/50/15's on the back of an e21 (205/50 up front) and have some impressive width. Avon tech m500's in 205/50/15 and toyo t1r's in 215/45/15 both would put a similar amount of rubber on the road and fit at all four corners. They're not racing tires but they're certainly better than any of the choices we have in 13's that aren't racing tires.

My mate had 17x7 on hit and they went pretty good I think he had 215/40/17 unsure of what tires but it used to handle pretty crazy...I look at the back of my E21 with 205.60's and it looks PHAT, BUTT I want it to look Phatter!!! I may go for some 16's but I really do love the big-ass wheel look.....Height and width wise
