So I was going through a new thread and saw people starting to talk about the fastest they have driven on the road, scene's the fact that on different road's in different country's they have different speed limit's, this mat turn into a sumwhat 'illegal' thread, but as long as we dont give too much info away I think we'll be safe.
Mine is: 245KM/H (152MP/H) in a friend's 2004 Ford BA XR6 Falcon.....

It could be, but track speed's are always higher so it's gotta be pretty fast for a track speed... |

I've gone 165mph as a passenger of a modified eclipse turbo but as a driver, I've hit 153mph in a 750il in the epic 8 hour trip from NC to Miami which is about 750 miles
I've been surprised by the speeds I was able to hit in several other cars, such as 138mph in a 325e! |

155 on GPS in my '86 535 turbo. It was kind of dumb, really. Bricks were not meant to go that fast. |

When I was 17, I got nailed doing 226km/h in a 928S. I had been over 260km/h a few minutes earlier.
More than once, I've found the speed limiter in my Volvo V50, which is 210km/h.
My 633csi saw 140mph(US spec car) on the I5 between Seattle and Portland.
Lots of other times in the 200-220 range in various cars.
I've been north of 270km/h on my CBR900RR before, too. That was on a track though.

An indicated 149mph in my E39 528 touring whilst on my way to see a friend in Germany, but i have been in a mate of mine's E36 M3 Evo on the Limiter (it was good fun, he is a rally driver so I felt quite safe, but it is amazing how quickly you catch up with a car doing 80mph!) That was in Germany as well, so all nice and above board
Also about 500mph courtesy of British Airways

Wow this are great speeds, my question now is for how long at those stated speeds? Lost of my friends tells me that they have done 160kph but the truth of the matter is that they eased off the throttle the sec the needle touched 160. |

Speedo on my e12 goes to 140mph, the car will bury the needle with relative ease. No, it's not stock. I've done it a number of times on the track, seldom on the road because I'm worried about someone else not realizing I'm approaching that fast and making an ill-considered move...

I've been at 145 mph in an 850Csi. Long sweepers on I-140 start to get pretty tight at that speed. The Csi is such a torquey beast. I was test driving the customers car after I had replaced the battery (you know, to be sure it maintained a charge at post legal speeds), and as I was running up through the gears it started missing and shuddering in 4th gear. I realized I had hit the rev limiter (did I mention how Godawful smooth the v12's are?) and was doing 120 mph, and still had 2 gears yet to go! Got to 145 and backed off for fear of crossing the Gestapo, backed down to 80, and ran it back up to 145 again. All inside about a 3 mile stretch of interstate. What an incredible machine.

my best is 160kmh in my e21 and that was following a mate in his EB falcon. who hit a soft 170kmh. With my sloppy front end it gets a bit sketchy at these speeds and given that my provisionary licence only allows me to drive at 100kmh i shouldnt be doing that anymore. |

I've taken my 323i up to 165kph. It seemed really fine with it. No wobble, sounded great - except on an easy left (I think a rear wheel bearing needs replacing).
But the fastest i've gone was 200kph in my 85 Nissan Pulsar. A downhill stretch on a foggy morning. Stupidest thing I've ever done, my hands can feel the vibration just thinking about it:/ |
