After sitting outside for about year, my car won't start.
I jumped it from another car: all the lights comes on fine, and the voltmeter gauge I installed reads a full 12 volts when the other car is off, 14 volts when the other car is on (I grounded the jumper cables to the donor's body).
However, once I turn the ignition switch to the start position, everything dies, and the lights won't come on until i disconnect and reconnect the jumper cables.
Any ideas on whats going on? I there a relay I should be looking at? I won't be driving the car, I just want to move it into garage so I can tear into it. |

Sounds like a bad connection. Check your terminals and their connections at the battery posts. Also, make sure that you've got good grounds. Essentially you're getting enough of a connection for lights, but not enough for your starter.. Also check for corrosion on your battery posts or bad wires. |

My vote is on the grounds(especially the one to the battery tray) and then the battery cables themselves. |
