What is this part? Can I take it off, I dont personaly like how it looks, and mine is all rusted up, I'd rather take it off unless someone could give me a reason not to?

In the image below, it is the L shaped piece of metal that connects from the valve cover to the intake manifold....

If you take it off you increase your chances of blowing an intake manifold gasket.

my original motor came without it.....

my new engine (picture below) that i put in came with one but i took it off thinking that i dont really need it.

plus the manifold gasket is bolted on tightly and its not lik its taking alot of stress

It's designed to cut out vibration of the intake.
I've never had one fitted as it looks untidy.

BMW 323i 2.7-as featured in Total BMW Nov 2002,Porsche 911/993TT
The original 323i M20 never had the bracket.
The result that there were many complaints of the longer stroke 323i M20 being harsh at high revs, particularly in RHD form, where the brake booster mount would pick up vibrations from the engines and telegraph it back to the interior.
The bracket was added to reduce this.
That's all
