As usual, my camera does not do this project justice. Red does not translate so believe me, it looks better in person but as I've said before, you get the idea.

Without a hitch the Super Eta based 2.7 slid right in. For now I'm keeping the 4 speed but it will probably get swapped out sometime down the road.

Before anyone gives me too much crap, the gray cover and intake are getting changed. They came out of a grey car.

I actually like the gray. Makes it look like a serious industrial powerplant. Consider it "negative bling".

I was wondering when someone was going to give me crap about that

I haven't done the final up there because I knew it wouuld get dinged up during this phase. Once all of the install work is done the majority of the bay is getting sanded down and redone with base/clear via airbrush.

How's that for anal?

I am a black engine guy but the quality looks awesone, maybe spray a little black high gloss engine enamel around and cut it back to reveal the gray in certain areas, then clearcoat. Maybe a little semi transparent orange metallic over the gray?
Again nice work.

One word for ya.... TOWELS! I made my buddies nuts when we dropped my engine back in. Moving blankets all over the front end of the car.

I had the thing draped in old bedspreads so nothing got messed up during installation. A load leveler made sure of it. Above all, it pays to be patient and observant.

The grey is growing on me too. Definately industrial and the anti of bling. I think it'll stay.

I have to say that though the grey is different, I'm not a fan of it. It looks like the exact color International uses to paint Diesels. Just my two cents.

Everything else looks awesome Bill!

My camera sucks. It's a lot lighter in real life.

A buddy of mine did an 02 and painted the same grey in a semi-gloss on the block and head. The VC is polished to a mirror finish. The brackets for the throttle cables for the twin Webers is bright gold anodized. The effect is stunning. Industrial with jewels.

Bill i love an e21 with e30 m20 engine.
Good work

I would like to see a picture of this engine Bruce.

Anyway I will be converting my 323i soon with my 2.8 m20 stroker and lots of parts have been powdercoater. I will have them use lots of towels as well.

I went with red on the hartge valve cover and bright silver on the intake manifold.

That's an M20 out of an E30 with Motronic, never had K-Jet.

not for long! Next summer this lil monster will be MegaSquirted with M3 ITB intake and if I fugure out how to make room for 88mm crank, it would breathe with 2.9 liter "lungs"!
