Hello everyone,
My dad recently purchased a 1982 323i Baur, and i was wondering if anyone has the production details, eg how many were made etc. I know that there were about 4500 Baurs produced, but how many were 323's? Also being an Australian delivered car im sure that adds to the rarity. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

4595 baur's were made, use the VIN checker on the site here to give you more info.
Most of them were four cylinder models as they were very expensive, I will see if I can find out for you. |

Oh k, the Baur is the third E21 we've bought. And theyve all been from Sydney. Everyone loves E21's by the looks of it. When I bought the first E21, a hennarot car, we stoped to have lunch on the way back home and people walking past stopped and had a look. And i dont mean just a glance, they walked up and down the car, then around the other side! It seems the only people that dont like them, are the other mechanics where i work on them! Oh well you cant please everyone. |

The Baur is actually at the panel shop atm, but ive got some pics of the car when we bought it. Under the couple of cm of dust is a perfect body, it was panel beaten and painted with $7000 in recepits.

It would be interesting to know how many are left..........but I have no idea how to go about finding that out.
I will call the DOT here in the US if someone will call the departments of transportation in Ausy and England. |

There was only 2 here in Singapore, A red and a polaris silver which was re-painted to light blue. Red one is still around, think the blue one has been exported. I would have bought the blue one if the asking was more reasonable and the re-build done a little better. |

I'd guess that of the roughly 4500 built, perhaps 1/2 of them are left. I'd also venture a guess that more made it to the states than one would think. A person can buy a new top for one on ebay so there has to be at least some demand out there. |

My guess is that there is a couple of hundred out here. One or two apear per month on eBay.......but you dont see them out there at all.
In my lifetime I have seen 3 others in all the cities of all the States I have traveled to in the last 10 years.

There is one TC1 in Alaska(mine)...I know there is one in Seattle too,
Mine is #3023 there should be a Baur plaque on the left side under the hood that has the number. |
