After a ton of wiring problems, a broken ignition switch and a pile of other issues, I was able to get it running today.
I've redone a lot of motors and there's always that "what did I forget" feeling that one has until you can see that there is no smoke belching, fluids oozing forth or grinding noises coming from deep inside. For some reason I had a qeasy feeling on this one but it turned out to be unfounded.
There is still a lot to do, such as fabricate a new exhaust to fit the Supersprint headers, finish the interior, some exterior trim and then get it into the top guy to install the rear section.
If everything goes as planned it'll be driveable by this time next week even if it's not totally done. This is good because the next project is on its way into the shop, a '68 VW Transporter. I found it a few miles from home from its original owner and it's surprisingly rust free. I've a 3.0 Porsche motor kicking around that would be a great candidate for a transplant |
