I went to change out my dist today and its frozen in. Any suggestions on how to get it out? it wont turn
Also my vacuum gauge is at 10 at idle, it should be at 15 right? does this mean i need to advance or retard the timing? clockwize or counterclockwise, do i turn it when i can get it to turn? |

What happens with the distributor is that the seal on the bottom of it swells up with years of heat and oil and it acts like a wedge. (seen just above the gear in this picture).
You have to carefully pry out the dizzy, a screwdrive between the block and the tab the tightening bolt goes through. Go slowly and patiently; I trashed my wife's dizzy because I got impatient. |
