the rear wheel bolts seem to be rubbing on my handbrake shoes. I've managed to adjust the handbrake so that it stops the clicking sound but i'd really like some sort or washer or something to put in the stud holes on the wheels??? is this possible??? i'd like to put 205's on the back so a spacer is no option...

If the wheel is spinning but just making a noise when it rotates then I would probably just grind 1mm or 2mm off the end of the wheel bolt. Find a nut that's the same thread and size, thread it on, grind away. When you take the nut off the bolt it will clean up the threads.

Wheel bolts are too long. You can get long and short bolts, if they rub, you have a long set which are about 8-10mm longer. Change to short ones and the problems will be solved.

Madhatter- you don't happen to have a BMW part number for the longer bolts, do you? I need a set for my yet unused BBS wheels.

thanks,

jamie

Anyone that sells BBS wheels should have the longer bolts for your wheels. That's where I found them.

Dude I have 205/65/13's on that back of mine....I had to find this guy, literally in the middle of nowhere that sell's every kind of car wheel stud/bolt ever, they cost me somthing like $4 each or somthing like that, and mine did rub on the handbrake too, and I did what greg323i said and ground off 2-3mm and all is good.....I cannot use the short stud's in my BBS wheel's, they dont fit.....wayyyyy to short.....

Nice products sell both the long and the short. Anyone who sells wheel accessories should be able to get them in, new chromed ones for the b6 cost me about $2.80 a bolt trade. You wont need the part number if you are looking to buy from the $tealer or from another parts place, the bolts are pretty standard and you will find them on quite a few bmws of a similar vintage. If you say long and short bolts they will know what you are talking about.

Edit: Here are the specs of the bolts if you want to match them up aftermarket.

Short;

M12x1.50
17mm hex head
52mm total length
20mm thread
60' seat

Long;

M12x1.50
17mm hex head
49.7mm total length
28mm thread
60' seat

Ive actually got a couple of similar dimensioned (19mm head, instead) bolts here but with a black finish, going to try them out and see what they look like.

You can get Yokohamas, Bridgestones and others better brands in 205/60R13s in Melbourne for about $120 or so. I usually talk to Terry @ Bob Janes in Ringwood because he's honest and good to deal with.

My 14"s came with little washers in the bolt hole recess. Not sure if they were needed as I never drove the car with those wheels...

Which is all and good, but if you read again, 205/65 is the size, not 205/60. 205/60 is a little undersized.

That's true, we're talking about a 13mm smaller diameter, as opposed to a 7.5mm larger diameter. A little research on the 'net shows that most tyre dealers call the 205/60R13 a 'Plus Zero' upgrade. I'd rather my speedo read slightly faster than I'm travelling rather than under. It might save me from the many cameras we have here.

I don't plan on changing to 205/60R13 because it will change everything.......I have these wheels>>>

I want to go up in size, I'm thinking 17/18's for the all-out big baller look, and then some 14/15's for street/race.....I know some wont approve but I'm not asking.....I'm telling......Butyeah while I have 13's I will stay within the limit's of tire's being correct sizes.....I dont wanna have to recalabirate just because I changed my tires.....Too much work when I woulds pay maybe the same amount (AUD$125 for then Jetsen/Jetson tires each) for those.....If I can get better brand's like Yoko's again or somthing then I will go with them in 205/65R13....Nothing lower.....OH HOW I WOULD LOVE A 215/(60/55)R13.....MMMMM PHHATTNESSS!!!!!

205/60 will make it illegal. 205/65 will be right on the limit.

usually used in/on wheels without recessed holes or matching seats on the bolts. You shouldnt need them on a proper fitting wheel. Yours are simply too long pjs323i.
