What type of rivits are used for holding down the VIN plate to the chassis? Mine were ratty old pop rivits and I know those weren't right.
Any ideas? |

The rivits holding the vin plate on other 80's vintage BMW's I've had were of the rounded top variety. The ETK doesn't show a part number for them so it must have been one of those "whatever they had at the time" deals. |

They are definately just pop rivets. The heads of mine came off and the vin fell out on to the driveway one day. Wondered wtf it was |

definately not welded. A flimsy piece of alloy or tin like that wouldnt even be worth the effort. |

Yes you have the VIN plate plus the chassis number is stamped acros the top on the inner wing.
