Tech Forum : 316/carb fuel line without return hose

Member Post nr. 459 KL, Malaysia e21 323/6 316, e34 520i, e32 730i	Hi, I just changed my electric fuel pump on my 1982 316, and to surprise, there's no return fuel line for over pressure. The elect fuel pump seems stop pumping when carb filled up. Will this setup kill the pump or spoil the carburetor float? Or the elect pump is designed to stop when carb is fully filled with no apparent ill effect? Appreciate for comment. PS: The old elect fuel pump seems not pumping enough, that i got fuel starvation at high rpm/speed.
