I am intrested in buying a set of these:

http://www.e21parts.net/amproducts/subframemounts.htm

Does anybody have any experience with these mounts?

Also does anybody know where I can purchase these items in the UK?

Cheers

James

i wonder if we really need PU mounts for the rear subframes.

BMW has 2 versions avaliable of which 1 is rated as "hard" - not sure what that means though.

I think I have those and its still rubber. So, I guess it's just a harder compound of rubber? I hear a slight susp. knock from the rear when I go over speed bumps and I suspect its from them, but I don't know for sure.

When my Dad was racing his E21 he welded the rear subframe mounts up solid. He said at the time that it really tightened up the rear end and made the whole car a lot more positive.
I think that solid is a little to excessive, but I would be intrested in knowing peoples thoughts.

I don't own the part in question but everything else that Fred (owner of e21parts) has supplied me has been of excellent quality.

I plan on using the same component when I slot my rear subframe.

I'm sure they are excellent, but you can do it yourself for about $30.

I had soild alum mounts on my mini before, which was fine as the mini is hard anyway and I had not much faith in the BMC's .... er.. BL .....Rover's R&D and QC so I went for the John Cooper specs, which was fine.

I m however not too sure abt this on the BMW's esp the E21 onwards, (there maybe some truth on the 2002's)

The knocking, is that on the new mount?

What is the recc change on the mounts anyway?
