I want to match the dash light colors to the Pioneer blue. I have always liked blue, and those dash LEDs are just not a bright orange anymore.
I figure it is easier to change the LED color of the dash than the radio. |

As long as you know the e21 doesnt use leds, it uses bulbs (5w i think) that clip into holders, its a fair bit different from the E30's OBD. The orange colour itself comes from filters that the light is projected through from the top.
There was talk about this on bimmerforums before when i said i think if you check the voltage at each globe you will be able to find out if they are wired in series or parallel. If in series, should be able to use a led with the right resistance value in order to supply you with their correct operating voltage and simply cut the bulb folder and solder in the led. Otherwise if in parallel, just use a resistor inline to get the desired result and drop the voltage.
If i end up pulling the dash in the car i might do the same thing, probably keep it orange though, just use some high intensity leds to brighten it up a bit.

I have some blue illumination led's I pulled from a Lexus RX330 console I was saving to do the exact same thing. They are in a housing that is the perfect size for this application, however I have no specs, nor have I even thought in depth about the conversion. They are available for shipping cost if you want them, Mayan, but I can't offer installation tips since I don't know.
