I would go towards a Motronic system..........rather than a carb system.
Parts will be easier to find. you will need the intake of a 320/4 or a 320/6 for easy placement of that carb. The 320/4 is a bit easier as 2oo2 used a carb 4.
For all that part hunting....it is much easier to get parts off an e30......and probably a more reliable setup as well. |

it that a plug n' play conversion or are additional modifications required, because you're right e30's are more plentiful in the motor city, usa |

It is plug and play in that everything fits fairly easily. You will need to modify the electric wiring harness....and that is the biggest modification. Other than that, the intake, injectors, ect are all bolt on.
I am not sure, but I think that you may be able to use the same intake. I am doing a complete conversion, and am using the E30 intake.
You are looking for parts from the "i" not the "e".
2002 parts are exotic now. You pay for what they are worth. E30s are junkyard parts. Much cheaper and easier to find. |

My only question is why?
If the car had dual weber sidedrafts it'd probably be worth it.

The car he found was a 2002 not an e21. I guess he wants to buy the 2002 and swap. |

I dont know that any of these projects is for the mechanically "challenged".
Maybe your best bet is to really take apart and clean up your system. Take a lot of photos and notes about how it goes together.....and maybe you will fix all your problems by just getting it back in shape.
If these systems are dirty.......or worse, if they have pressure leaks.....then they are complete trouble.
Maybe look into replacing every hose.....taking apart every moving part and cleaning it to a shine. Get dirt buildup out of there, and replace any small part or plastic part that looks cracked or old.
I have always wanted to put stainless steel lines replacing those nasty plastic hoses.....but have not found a good way of doing it. |
