Does anyone know the purpose of this switch. It's mounted on the side of my gearbox and the ETK states that it's only in Australia and Sweden. It also shows the backup light switch on top of the gearbox. |

Well, if that's its function then it doesn't work. I've started the car in gear once or twice. |

Does your car have the reversing light switch at the top of the gearbox? Mine doesn't, and the 3 pole switch on the side would appear to be the reversing light switch on my car. |

I'm not sure if it has the switch on the top, I can't see up there and my hand is too big to fit up there. The '3-poles' switch works when I pull it out, but when it's in and I shift into reverse it doesn't work.
This started out as trying to repair my reverse lights. I can connect the wires at the connector under the gear shift and it works. I pulled out the '3-poles' switch, thinking it's the reverse switch, and it tested fine out of the car. Put it back in, shifted to reverse and measured across the terminals and it wasn't activated. I'll run a jumper across the terminals on the switch to see if the reverse lights come on (I didn't think of doing that until just now).
Still, I'd like to know what the hell a '3-poles' switch is. |

maybe someone put the wrong switch in the reverse light switch hole. put the correct switch in and see if it works. |
