so, since my ignition switch died, i decided to go with switches and buttons. everything went smoothly for the most part but now the engine runs like poop. ill start it and it will idle about 400 then die. start it again and keep the revs til about 1k and then once it warms a bit it will idle at 600. it use to idle about 9oo-1000. when i give it a little gas, it just sounds like it is not getting enough gas. the engine does not want to climb above 2k. my fuel psi stays about 3psi on and off the thottle. so then i thought the switch could be bad and it is not letting the fuel pump at full speed. so i took the wires out of the switch and connected them directly. made no difference. so what gives? why would the engine run so poorly after i did the push button start install?
could this be a coincidence and time for a fuel filter?
or is it something in the wiring?

By the way, For those that dont know, Im running 3 downdraft carbs.

how did you ig switch die? I think your battery might be really low, or you might have bad grounds.
if the ignition switch died like mine did, it leaves the starter on the whole time draining the batter, charge the batter, clean and change your grounds. see if that helps |

What are good places to redo grounds? from the battery neg to the front nose?
My switch was acting up while I was having starter problems. I added one ground and everything improved. |

I added or piggybacked all grounds i wasn't sure of with cables i bought in a kit a while back. these include
Block to chassis underneath the fuel distributor.
Alternator to Block
Battery to Alternator
Battery to chassis
Interior to Head.

well, i ran thicker, smaller wires, and re-wired the acc and ignition back to the ignition switch. but to start it, i use a push button start. So she is running decent now! thanks for the idears!
