Hey all, so Ive been thinking about the flasher light switch and the ignition switch problems faced by many of our e21s, and i think there is a correlation. While i had my ignition bad, every time i plugged in the flashers they blew out. I completely just gave up in the end. So, if your flasher goes out, check you ignition switch? does this sound viable? Anyone have a wiring diagram they could check?

The emergency flasher & turn signals are powered from fuse 15, which is in turn powered by the "start/run bus" (i.e. the "on" and "acc" terminals) coming off the ignition switch (along with fuses 12 and 18), so yes, if you have a defective ignition switch, it's very possible for there to be a related problem with the turn signal/flasher circuit.
On the other hand, if you're NOT having issues with the other circuits powered from the start/run bus, I'd suspect that the two problems might be coincidental....... |
