This is one rare car. It must be a blast to drive.
There was one in the S.F. bay area in the early 90's, It is the only one I have actually seen. I have always like the Hartge wheels, They fit the car so well. |

You are a very lucky person!!
I only have a replica of the Hartge rims and it is only 15" x 7" pictured below.
What is the offset of your rims? My tires seem to hit the front of the fender when turning in. Need to shave off some of the front spoiler.

I do not think we have the Hartge front spoiler in Malaysia, but we do have the Mtechnic front spoiler. It looks very much like the Hartge front spoiler, except that it requires the removal of the front euro bumper. It is still at the spare parts shop - and its brand new. It is made of ABS plastic.

No, the center is from my car. If I remember correctly, I thought the E28 center is wider around the emergency brake to accomodate the optional power seat buttons as well as all four electric window buttons. |

We have a center console from an E28 in our 323, and you are right that the console is larger, but thats only in the US cars. In europe they have the cars with the non-power adjustable seats, and the console is much narrower. Hope to see you up at bimmerfest again this year! Car looks great! |

I don't recall ever seeing an E21 with center console from factory. Could this console been fitted by Hartge and taken from an Euro E28. I recall my 535i Hartge (E28) having a console very similar to that of your car. |

During the transition from the E21 model to the E30, Hartge added extra's, like center consoles, to the E21 that weren't in their catalogs. |

I've always loved the Hartge cars... Just stunning. Maybe it's their color scheme but they always seemed just a little more macho than Alpina cars... maybe just less body striping... |

Hartge made their early brake calipers bigger, bad'r, and better by injecting steroids into Girling type calipers.
This car is one of, if not the most fun to drive. It's like driving a rocket on wheels. |

It can do over 100mph, just not very long because the rpm's start getting into the red. It's a excellent car for curves on a slalom course, but not so good for a long straight track.
Check out this video and see.

Hello... another True HARTGE owner in Europe. I like your car... I would have left it closer to the original if i were you : such as
Hartge engraved calipers, E30 Hartge alloys, the seats, the console.
I remember being told by Hartge Germany that around 70 units were built worldwide at that time. 13 pieces seems to be a very small number... maybe this corresponds to the US market...
One other thing is shocking : the Hartge vin plate. To my knowledge of Hartge cars (i have all original documents about mine... and have been owning this car for 1.5 decade now), the Vin plate only appeared in 1984 when Hartge got the status of German car manufacturer instead of being a car tuner and running in car rallyes. Besides those details i like your car... and to be honest, i have made a few changes on mine too... some that i regret but that are not reversible : tinted glasses, red tail light assembly

Is this David?? Lives in France? You had that great write-up on that old Un-official Hartge site detailing everything you did to convert your car.
My seats? From a 335i E21 Hartge. I've not seen HARTGE engraved or stamped on the calipers, where is it located? These wheels were made especially for the E21. They're 4x100 true 3 piece Hartge/OZ with a 25 offset no rubbing and do NOT require spacers. Yes, you caught me, the VIN plate is not OEM, but it fits nicely.
I believe you're correct on 70 units built worldwide, but only 25% of those were built by Hartge at the Hartge factory: mine being one.
Believe me when I say that I don't love Hartge or the E21 enough to have spent all the time, effort and money it would have taken to create an authentic copycat. I would have made an Alpina if that were the case
Besides, it's all meaningless anyway, considering Hartge doesn't care, support, or even acknowledge the very model that put them on the map. If it's older than their H50 - you're forgetten.
