i just finished putting my head back on and it runs, the only problem is my timing is off and i don't have a timing light. any possible way of adjusting timing without a timing light, or is the light pretty essential?
thanks,

some people can do it by ear. I could get close, but I'd always advance it a little too much. If your timing was correct before the head swap, I'd start the car and go look at your tachometer. If you remember your idle, you can set your timing by idle. Advancing the timing speeds up the idle and retarding it decreases the idle. Just make sure the engine is warm enough to where it will idle without all the extra fuel stuff.
Be warned... this isn't the BEST way to set timing. |
