1) some of the load time seems to take a little while. Its fine for high-speed, but I'm not sure how a dial-up person would be able to handle it.

2) Under your "Forums" list, you may want to show General..., Tech, and News as sub-categories of Overview. Or, eventually just remove the overview.

3) I had some "cannot load header" messages earlier, but I cant get them again.

3) Home-page has no link into main site!

4) Sorry, those were all 'negative' comments. However, I commend you on your efforts. It seems to be a clean and easily navigated site. Its going to to be a fill-time job maintaining the site; I hope it all works out!!!!

Henry

PS: Have you considered a classifieds (buy or sell)? Also perhaps a links page to other e21 sites?

Thanks for your input, melloh.

1/ Regarding the load times, we move to another server in less than one month so I suppose everything will clear up by then.

2/ Do you mean eventually going back to one single forum?

3/ I'm aware of those error messages, I've been getting them as well as other testers. Usually, if you refresh the page it'll come through fine. It's a problem with the configuration of the database, sometimes it craps out.
You see, it's for those things I wanted to have the site tested first. If people expecting something cool get errors like that, they are scared away. All you guys were told this was for testing, so.

4/ That's because the site isn't public yet. Of course, I will put the main page as default once the site is public.

5/ It's not going to be a full-time job, in fact it's all easy to keep together

You're right, I will post a links page, and I will provide some kind of classifieds system.

Regarding the forums: no, i didnt mean only one forum. I meant the ovevrview link was not necessary in my opinion. But, it looksl ike it is gone now. Also, just occuring to me now are 2 other notes:

1) while on a saab forum (SAABs are nightmares, btw) it was a very convenient forum option to be emailed a simple notification when somone replied to your post.

2) when replying, somehow have the message being replied to be visible.

I'll send you more if I ver think of any other input. Until then, keep on truckin it!

Henry

I will provide an option for both these features later today.

Can you make it so we can see the whole post thaat we are replying to?

Can you enable automatic hyperlinks? (type in a www and a .com/.org/etc. and it will make it a hyperlink)

Thanks for your input Matt.

The reason that there are no sigs is because I don't believe in them. I am a diehard fan of "simpler is better" and that's why I am leaving them out. However, I have added a car and location field on the account page so every post will reflect your car(s) and location as a mini-signature (like under my own icon here).

I have added a box that shows the original thread when replying, so that should be ok.

Automatic hyperlinking is sometimes irritating because it might activate links that aren't even links. I guess that if you want to make a link, it is easy enough to do so by using the forum code indicated when your reply. Personally, I use only HTML code myself, because that's what I know best

About clickable smilies: again, simpler is better. I'm not sure if I wanted smilies on a forum like this altogether, but I decided to try and see how people use them for now. Making people have to type the smilie code makes them think about using them - e.g. it's a little less easy to abuse them.

If you have other comments, please let me know!
If I agree with them I will apply changes. Thanks!
