History
My dad is the original owner of a 73 2002, and I have always loved old BMWs. When it came time for me to buy my first car, I came across an 83 henna 320i that was in vey rough shape. I had no idea what an E21 was, let alone any experience in working on cars, but out of curious excitement I bought it in the fall of 98 for $650. I worked on rebuilding the car for the next three years, learning as I went, and ended up with something nearing a complete restoration except for the original paint. But, I was a college student already saving every penny I could for fun car parts (like suspension goodies) and I ran out of money before I could replace the bald tires (oops! big mistake). I fishtailed in the rain in the fall of 02 and wrecked her bad enough that it was time to find a doner body. I found my current car, an 81 Oklahoma car on ebay for $900, which was way too much. I was hoping that Oklahoma would mean no rust, but I was wrong. I stripped the new car to a shell, sandblasted, welded, primed and dropped it off at the body shop where it sat for over a year getting perfect. I had a deal with my body man: it was a side project which meant cheap, which also meant wait forever. I finally finished assembling the car in the summer of 04, and the turbo kit was completed in the fall of 06.
