I couldn't keep from getting my mitts into the 323 Baur and have commenced the frame up project a few months early. I've started to tear it apart and have found that the interior is grey primer.I've not seen this in any other BMW's from the early 80's that I've owned. Is this common to all e21's or just to the Baur?

Mine was painted under the dash but left in primer in other spots around the rear seat. |

I guess this makes sense since the front portion of the cabin was never altered. Part of the trunk is primered, the rest is painted and that area had work done to it as well as the seat area.
The question is what will be considered correct if I do a concourse job on the thing? I'm guessing it'll have to be sprayed its color and then primered over the paint if it's to be correct. I haven't decided if this is the route I'm going to take or not. |

My trunk, and the other 3 Baur trunks that I have seen, were all painted. |

pretty much everything visible is painted properly, the rest is just overspray that occurs. So your door sils and stuff are usually painted, but under the seats etc usually arent. |
