I have an 82 brasilian made vw bug, chasis 80% rust, 10% hole, 10% steel. I am in Latin America right now and my mechanic isnt the best.

1300 engine

To really clean the dirty carb, i want to open up a bottle of STP carb cleaner, and plug the fuel line right into it. This would make the fuel pump suck the STP carb cleaner out of the bottle, right into the carb and into the engine.

what do you all think? would it kill the carb? Im thinking of doing this for like 10 seconds while someone else is behind the wheel.

I don't think it will hurt the carb but it probably won't run very well at all until you get some gas back into it. The carbs are pretty simple, can you remove it and take it apart to clean it??
